Where hookah is most popular
As you'd expect, Belgrade has the most venues overall. The real story, though, is Novi Pazar: a city of around a hundred thousand people has 14 venues in our directory, which is 23% of Belgrade's count. In venues per capita, that's by far the strongest hookah scene in the country. Nobody's putting on a show there: the Oriental tradition is part of everyday life.

How late are hookah bars open?
On Fridays the picture is clear: in Belgrade and Novi Sad the standard closing time is 1 a.m. That's what most places in our database stick to. A sizable minority stays open until 2, and a handful of Belgrade spots don't lock up before 5 in the morning. On weeknights most places pull the shutters down around midnight. Each venue's exact hours are on its own page. That's exactly why we keep track of them: hours change more often than venues get around to updating their social media.
How much is hookah in Serbia?
Going by the price lists venues post publicly, a classic hookah in Belgrade usually costs 600 to 3,000 dinars (roughly €5 to €26), depending on the tobacco and the location. Premium blends and house “specials” go even higher. In smaller towns the starting price can be lower still. Hookah is normally shared around the table, so what each person actually pays ends up smaller than it looks.
